Entering the Megawatt Charging Era: BYD 10C & CATL 5Minute LFP BYD
CATL
Megawatt charging is in development for heavy duty vehicles, but this has seen development for consumer vehicles as well. In March 2025, BYD unveiled its “Super e-Platform,ˮ which uses redesigned “Bladeˮ batteries that support ultra-fast charging, high-performance electric motors, and a new generation of SiC power chips.
In April 2025, CATL publicly teased its next-gen Shenxing Pro LFP battery using its proprietary Non Propagation 3.0 technology that sets new benchmark for safety, lifespan, range and super fast charging designed for meeting Europeʼs expanding e-mobility market.
The Super e- Platform supports 10C charging and up to 1MW) charging power with a charging current of 1000A. BYD said is the first time the industry has used MW as a unit of measurement for charging power, signifying that charging power has entered the MW era. This enables 5 minutes of charging for 400 kilometers of range.

The Shenxing Pro is claimed to charge at 12C, adding 520 km CLTC rated range in 5 minutes - equivalent to 1.7 km per second. The battery is also claimed to deliver 830 kW at even 20% state of charge, accelerating from 0100 km/h in 2.5 seconds.
