Fast Charging Infrastructure Growth in the US Highway chargers in the US have vastly improved in density, with total charge port count increasing beyond 60,000
High power DC fast chargers are a major feature of the interstate highway system in 2025 Under the NEVI program, the goal is to have “a fast charger within 1 mi of the highway, every 50 mi of the interstateˮ The 60,000 chargers are about a third of the 180,000 chargers that are estimated to be necessary for public charging in the US (NREL)
