Performance Enhancement of Nanosilicon Anodes via Binary Coating Thin coating on nanosilicon comprised of binary materials, carbon and silicon oxide, provides complementary benefits of enhanced electronic conductivity and mechanical rigidity. Optimized coating thickness is 15 nm; 7 nm thick coating fails to adequately protect the SEI during cycling while 40 nm coating introduces additional overpotentials.
